Burl with Crown

This 7-inch tall vase was turned from a chunk of worm-eaten maple burl. It was such an interesting piece of burl that I decided it needed a 'crown', so I turned a twist on the upper half and mounted a piece of bloodwood to create the three-pointed crown. Burl grains interspersed with worm holes make for some very interesting patterns, shapes and textures. Finish is Watco oil buffed on the Beall system.
