"Firefall"
This is a Flamed Boxelder vessel featuring what I call Double Natural style with both a natural rim and a natural solid bottom. It is 11" long and approx. 5" in diameter.
It is crafted from the crotch of a hollowed boxelder tree. Crotch wood is more dense, thus the wood around the crotch had rotted away leaving a unique shape. I utilized the flamed, rotted edge (from the interior of the tree) as the rim and the solid portion (from the exterior of the tree) as the bottom. It also features two natural voids where the crotch came together leaving bark inclusions (I removed the bark). I also painted the interior with Black 3.0 super matte acrylic to give a "Looking into the void" effect.
I crafted for it a stand to allow it to balance at an angle, so it looks like it is falling from the sky.
The word "Firefall" refers to a tree that falls as a result of its roots being burned during a wildfire.
