Walking Sun
Navajo legend says that a deity carries the sun across the sky on his back and then hangs it on a peg to cool off. After it is no longer glowing he carries it back east during the night. I apologize for the bad iPad picture. Hopefully, I will have a chance to get a better picture before it is auctioned off tomorrow night. The wood is cherry and the piece is 12 inches in diameter. This piece was inspired by a Navajo ceremonial basket woven circa 1910, weaver unknown.
Beautiful work Bill. I was lucky to see one of your baskets in person at SWAT, the details are exceptional, showed pictures to my wife and she did not believe it was wood.

Where is it being auctioned at?

Fantastic work Bill. This is a design I haven't seen. I really like it and the legend that goes along with it.
