Any ideas on removing sealing wax on a piece of wood?

I sometimes need to remove the wax from the ends of a piece to glue on a sacrificial block for some of my multi-axis turning. When I do this I have found that a sturdy putty knife will remove the majority of the way. Following up with a little sandpaper exposes the grain so I can glue on the blocks.Any ideas on removing sealing wax on a piece of wood?

You need to give us a little bit more info, Peter. Are you suggesting that you would like to remove the wax before turning? If so, there is no need to remove any wax...go ahead and turn it off on the lathe.Any ideas on removing sealing wax on a piece of wood?
